Give
What It Is
We call our giving “The Practice of Generosity.” It is an act of worship where we honor God by bringing our financial first-fruits through tithes—a portion of our income, traditionally 10%, given to honor God and support His work, (Leviticus 27:30; Malachi 3:10)—and offerings, which are gifts given beyond the tithe, motivated by love to further God’s mission (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Why We Give
We give as an act of obedience and gratitude to God. Because Jesus is King over all—including our finances—generosity is our natural expression of our worship.
Scripture also highlights key principles to guide our giving:
- Generous (2 Corinthians 8:2)
- Intentional (2 Corinthians 8:3)
- God-directed (2 Corinthians 8:5)
- Consistent (2 Corinthians 8:7)
- Motivated by Love (2 Corinthians 8:8)
Impact of Giving
In Your Life: It helps you grow in generosity and trust in God’s provision. (2 Corinthians 9:11)
In the Church: It supports Calvary SLO’s ministry, discipleship, and mission. (Acts 2:42-44)
In the World: It supports gospel work locally and globally. (Matthew 28:19)
